U.S. Needs 'Attitude' Adjustment in South China Sea, Says Beijing

An article on Tuesday in China’s state-run Xinhua news agency, the official mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), said that the South China Sea used to be a peaceful place until the U.S. ‘poked it's nose’ in the area.

The United States needs to ‘rebalance’ its attitude toward the issue the news agency said. U.S. meddling even goes as far back as the 1960s Xinhua added. The news agency portrays China as the consummate peace maker, stating that it has maintained peace in the waters through friendly negotiations for generations.

The U.S. military’s top commander in the Pacific, four-star Adm. Harry Harris has advocated taking a much more confrontational approach toward China’s activities in the Sea.
